NHL All-Star Skills recap USWNTs Kendall Coyne impresses as first woman to compete in event
The NHL’s All-Star Skills event went down in San Jose on Friday night and served as the official kick-off party to the 2019 All-Star weekend. As usual, the skills event proved to be a fun and loose party that held some surprises and highlights. Let’s run through the standout performers and moments from the event. Fastest skater: To nobody’s surprise, Connor McDavid won for the third straight year, clocking in with a lap of 13.378 seconds. But it was USWNT star and gold medalist Kendall Coyne who stole the show when she became the first woman player to participate in the Skills event when she stepped up to replace . Coyne, 26, absolutely crushed her run and finished with a final time of 14.346 — good enough to Yuli Gurriel Jersey beat one of the guys. She topped forward (14.526). Coyne is just 5-foot-2 but she was able to reach a top speed of 22 MPH during her run. It was impre sive as hell. Henrik Lundqvist’s suit has The Godfather lining, complete with movie quotes. Says he’s a fan of the movie, especially the characters. Cristina Ledra (@cledra) Premier Pa ser: Leon Draisaitl made his first All-Star appearance on Friday night after grabbing the Last Man In vote, and he grabbed some hardware to Marwin Gonzalez Jersey go along with it. The forward took top honors in the precision pa sing event on Friday, but you’re actually the real winner if you managed to stay awake during this entire event without falling asleep. (It seems to succe sfully drain all energy from the event every year, and this year was no exception.) Just kidding, the actual real winner was USA gold medalist Brianna Decker, who apparently beat everyone with an unofficial time in her pre-event demonstration. NHL (@NHL) Accuracy Shooting: First-time All-Star and winger David Pastrnak took home the accuracy shooting crown in the night’s final event. The 22-year-old went Josh Reddick Jersey first and finished with a final time of 11.309.
